Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are a rare group of disorders in which the body no longer makes enough healthy blood cells. You might sometimes hear it called “bone marrow failure disorder.” MDS is considered to be a type of cancer.
MDS can cause low red blood cell count (anemia), low white blood cell count (neutropenia), and/or low platelet count (thrombocytopenia).
Disease Information Sites
I was not able to find any good information sites about MDS in cats to share. I did find this human-focused foundation https://www.mds-foundation.org/about-the-mds-foundation/ and their website has a lot of information that will be helpful in understanding this disorder.
Support Groups
Cats with Multiple Medical Conditions is a very good support group on Facebook.
Feline (Cat) Cancer is another good Facebook where you may find members who have experience with MDS.
For Fido, with love and dedication.
