Using eye drops or eye ointments in cats can be difficult if you don’t know how to do it properly. Luckily there are some really great tips you can follow to make the process easier for kitty and for you.

- If you’re giving both drops and ointment, always give the drops first
- Check with your veterinarian to see if you need to wait any amount of time between giving the drops and giving the ointment
- Most over-the-counter human eye drops are NOT SAFE to use with cats. Do not use any products in your cat’s eyes without talking to your veterinarian first
- Have everything you need before you begin
- Medication(s) with caps removed
- Wash your hands
- Tissue to blot excess medication away from your cat’s face
- Large towel for wrapping your cat if needed
- A helper – if you’re lucky
