Using an Inhaler for Asthma

If your cat has asthma you likely will be treating their asthma by using a rescue inhaler during attacks. Your vet may also prescribe daily preventive breathing treatments using the inhaler as well.

Key Points

  • Don’t press the mask too hard against the cat’s face. The mask should be resting lightly against the face.
  • Some cats like their paws stroked during the process.
  • If the cat is calm they will take deeper breaths, and deep breaths are what you want.
  • Be sure to get an inhaler chamber that is made for cats, like the AeroKat
